All NOW approved milk suppliers for our Buttermilk are required to be FARM (Farmers Assuring Responsible Management) participants. We expect that all of our suppliers are sourcing milk from farms that believe in the proper and ethical treatment of animals and their well-being. NOW believes that an animal’s welfare to include both its physical and mental health and this should include any time at the farm, in transit, or at the market or place of slaughter. 

We expect our suppliers to source milk from farms that have ready access to fresh water and a diet that maintains full health and vigor. In addition, an environment that includes shelter and comfort while resting are key to the ethical treatment of the animals. All cattle should be free from pain, injury or disease by providing a preventive treatment program for the animal. All cattle should be kept from fear and distress to aid in the mental wellness of the animal. Lastly, all cattle must have sufficient area for grazing with animals of its own kind.
